Review of Beastly (2011) by Calvin R — 05 Jun 2012
Beastly a modern teenage take on Beauty being Vanessa Hudgens and Beast being Alex Pettyfer.
The story is a simple take, but in this modern adaptation I felt it to cliche and too uneven. I mean Vanessa Hudgens is forced to live in this house, like the first 20 mintues was just horrible, I was waiting it to get a bit better, but I was disappointed with the story.
The performance were alright, I mean Alex Pettyfer is not a bad actor is just that the roles that are giving to him, he doesn't seem to nail it in this one. Vanessa Hudgens was just utterly not great, but not horrible either. However, I think who did a outstanding job is Neil Patrick Harris, he always saves the movie partially for me. Mary-Kate Olsen did a o k performance even though we barely see her in the film.
Overall not horrible, horrible, but I know Director Daniel Barnz could have done a much better job with the premise, story, how it gets to the actual story was ridiculously badly executed, so it felt too fake and cheesy, and the performance was not dreadfully horrible, but they could have done a much better job.
