Review of Beastly (2011) by Lydia S — 21 Jul 2011

This is one of those movies I know I shouldn't like, but I kind of do anyway. When watching it, it helps not to take it all too seriously and just enjoy it for the trashy teen flick that it is. Sure the acting is pretty dismal in parts, and the script can be utterly cringe-worthy at times. But the chemistry between the leads manages to pull it through and make it watchable.

The plot was an interesting and original take on a classic fairytale, and maybe with more thought and better execution this could actually have amounted to a movie really worth watching.
