Review of Beast from Haunted Cave (1959) by Dan B — 09 Mar 2011
In the late 50's there were a lot of stories of monsters that had to be told.
This story takes place in a ski resort and involves a bank-robber-gang and one spider/landliving Squid that lives in a cave.
The Beast is of a complex nature. It gathers people and trap them in web, but we don't get any explanation around the beast in itself. We don't learn anything of the furry longarmed creatures origin, Where its from or where its going or how it feels. We learn about its whining sound and that it likes to go for walks both in day and night and we do learn that it doesn't like fire very much.
The human cast is interesting and weird. 26 years or 30 years old people of this time behave like they're of 70 years old. The "Love" segments of this movie is really diffrent, you might say. But still very provocative for its time, I'm sure.
Not the most memorable of 50's monster movies, but as most usual a lot of fun for all fans of era and genre.
