Review of Bears (2014) by Ray H — 27 May 2014
This is a pretty good Disney nature movie. We follow a female bear and her recently born cubs for the first year of their lives. The cinematography is excellent. The voice over narration by John Reilly is written for small children. We learn amazingly little about the annual life style of Brown Bears. This is not a documentary. We simply follow the bear family from Spring until the late Fall and the beginning of the Winter season.
We are told the bears live in a protected reserve somewhere in Alaska. A map would have helpful. There are a handful of other animal characters who reoccur throughout the movie. We simply watch the bears go from place to place. There are some threats and other adversity.
Its a good looking film. But, you will not learn much about Brown Bears.
