Review of Be Kind Rewind (2008) by Blake B — 11 May 2013
Very under-rated. On the outside it looks like a goofy comedy with Jack Black, but on the inside it's something special. To any one who has ever made a movie or video with friends, which all filmmakers start out doing, you will understand this movie and smile at how wondrous it is.
Making movies is fun, and most people forget that; of course it's an art and a respected visual medium but a lot of people forget that making movies is just a lot of fun. The scene where everybody is watching the movie that they all just made and they're all smiling and laughing whilst watching the screen really touched me.
I've done that, watching something that my friends and I made and we all can't help but feel really happy because we remember how hard it was to not laugh during the scene, or we recall how someone said something funny and we decide to use it on camera.
I know I'm being pretty biased, but I can't help but like this movie.
