"Baywatch" stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in a story about a crew of lifeguards trying to solve the mystery of why there is suddenly drugs and dead people washing onto shore. Dwayne runs the team of lifeguards while Zac is a beat down, wash up Olympic swimmer who is serving his probation time out on the beach with the Baywatch crew. There is a struggle for acceptance by Dwayne Johnson and that sets up Zac Efron's characters motivation and ultimately his redemption story line.

Positives.

This film is not aiming for more than just a fun time at the movies while proving a few laughs. The film is fun and entertaining while also being silly, over the top, and ridiculous, especially with Dwayne Johnson's character "Mitch." The chemistry of the cast is well done, the fun they had on set really shows in their acting and they know they are not going for an Oscar so why not have fun? The film is disposable but fun, it is a film that you can see once and forget until you catch it on TNT or USA network on a boring day. The jokes are good and fair so you will laugh but not hysterically, you get just enough laughs to get through with a smile.

Negatives.

The film is dumb, the plot is basic, and the villains can be spotted from a mile away. You can easily tell who is against the crew and why by a simple piece of dialogue. There really isn't any weight in the film either, you could have a character die and still make it through the film and completely forget why they were there. Sometimes summer films are made to be throw away pieces and this film is surely that.

Overall.

What you will get with "Baywatch" is some fair amount of jokes, pretty people on the screen having a good time, and a film that will let you stuff your face with popcorn and not judge you. You really won't run to see this movie or run to purchase its blu ray. This one is going to run in the background on a boring night while you have drinks with your buddies.
