Review of Baywatch (2017) by Dann M — 18 Apr 2018
Based on the hit '90s television series, Baywatch is a big-budget action comedy that falls flat. The story follows a disgraced Olympic swimmer who gets a second chance as a lifeguard, but must prove himself to alpha male head lifeguard Mitch; who takes his job super seriously.
Despite being led by Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, and Alexandra Daddario, the cast is pretty underwhelming. And, the villain is especially weak and has a nonsensical plan. Also, the comedy is poorly written, going for a lot of cheap sex jokes and gross-out humor.
But worst of all, it's not very sexy and there's nothing exotic about the beach. A complete mess, Baywatch isn't that fun or entertaining, and has none of the charm that the television show had.
