Review of Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (2009) by Tom R — 11 Dec 2009

I love Galactica. The new one of course , not the old 80s dramedy with cheesy characters and even more cheesy outfits.

The new Galactica was everything sci-fi should be and when they did Razor as a movie length episode to go with the series they did strike gold. The whole Universe and mithology got expanded and enriched. It brought us the Pegasus, a lesbian 6, a lesbian admiral of the fleet and really exciting viewing , apart from fantastic special effects.

Sadly, The Plan does not live up to its legacy. Not even closer. It's a compilation of probably the best scenes of the series with things in between to fill the so-called "gaps". The only thing worth mentioning is where the last 5 where when the cylons attacked the colonies! the special effects are poor! really poor! and there is no plot! other than how things were from a cylon point of view. Which would have been great IF all things would have happened aboard the cylon ships! but not...it was again on Galactica...why didnt they better based the movie on why the human cylons decided to attack now? not before? why didnt they end the whole movie with the best ever intro to a "villain" in series? with number 6 heels walking towards the colonial representative on that distant space station? and then BOOM! So much potential and they just threw it down the sink! and what about the sex????? Galactica had sex. Lots. But not couples naked moaning or shots of naked bodies which were all gratuitous and without place or without motive to advance the plot. It was like watching a soft porn film in one of those mediocre porn channels on cable.

Oh well....If they wanted people to forget Galactica to give way to Caprica, well they have done it!
