Review of Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (2009) by Tay B — 10 Nov 2009
Edward James Olmos sells out. I must say I was so disappointed by this movie. I waited months and months to see this. In fact I looked forward to it. The movie plays A special on the sci-fi channel or something like that. The only exciting moment is when the Brunette version of number six is rolling around in a small bed in her undies. the rest is a far-fetched story juxtaposed opposite the lineage of the whole series. The real gem was "razor". It's obvious that Ronald D. Moore had other things to worry about when this script went down. The story zigzags all over the place with flashbacks which are supposed to be groundbreaking but really don't change very much about what we know or how we feel about the whole series. The thing that bothers me the most is Edward James Olmos giving the same interview all over the Internet about how this is the best Battlestar Galactica ever and that more movies will be like this.
Gosh I hope not... I feel like somebody dipped my children in garbage. to come up with an allegory... Battle Star Galactica compared to the plan is like comparing Star Wars to that Battle for Endor Ewoks movie.
I'll pretty much watch anything about Battlestar Galactica but this was really an insult and an embarrassment to everyone involved. I could not have been more surprised. the worst episode of Battle Star Galactica is a hundred times better than this movie. "Razor" is actually good enough to recruit people to watch the entire series in fact, I did that with that DVD and made someone into a major fan. I am aware that the screenwriter was a battle Star Galactica novice but I'm sure they made her watch enough episodes to understand what kind of quality the storylines usually had.
And the gratuitous use of boobs and buttocks... who cares?
It's not like some of the main characters were naked... now that might have been worth it. If number six it had a hot and heavy love scene with Starbuck or something like that or maybe Apollo..maybe. but still what was lacking here is story, story, story. They chose the most insignificant characters and ran them all over the map. Im sorry but rent the original series or RAZOR and/or catch the TRICIA HELFER issue of playboy and you'll be much more satified ..oh and Grace Park...take your clothes off ...we are sleeping from your performance..].
So say we all.
