Review of Battleship Potemkin (1925) by Ollie W — 17 Dec 2010
A wonderful and important movie full of iconic moments that will echo through film industry for decades. In itself it's essentially a silent movie commisioned as a tribute to the 1905 Russian revolution, superbly edited by Eisenstein to maintain a tension and poignance seldom recreated by any subsequent film maker to such a degree.
Undoubtably in a visual sense it has'nt aged well, and is possibly not one for repeated viewings, nonetheless, it must be seen at least once, if only to bask in it's political importance and consider it's incredible legacy.
