Review of Battleship Potemkin (1925) by Jesús G — 16 Jan 2011
Russian history meets revolutionary, masterful direction in this moving piece. After so many years, it's not surprising that its impact has been somewhat diluted, so most might find it kind of boring.
Still, no silent film has moved me this much (and I'll cite the scene at the steps of Odessa as the obvious example). I can see how this movie changed cinematographic technique for many directors and editors in the years to come.
A definite must for film history geeks!
