You get ONE star for special effects, but no more, because your hobbled alien invaders took 3-4 minutes to fire up a weapon, which belabors the point of cool special effects in a movie like this. Other than that, lots of stuff happened, but none of it mattered.
.. Fast forward through the talking parts, because ultimately, they don't even bother to explain why any of it happened.
