I want to say this movie could have been better, but for Pete's sake, this movie is based after a board game!

Nice save by the writers making this an alien invasion movie. Weird move making the aliens so powerful, yet so timid. They an take out a military base no sweat, but they'll wait endlessly for the US Navy to make a move. It makes no sense.

If you thought that this movie was a shill for the board game, you were right. The aliens bombs looked like pegs.The Navy used four different sizes of ship. Their radar went out, so they had to use a map to guess where the enemy ships were.

Speaking of the Navy, this movie is also a cheap plug for them, as they are predominately featured throughout.

Rihanna sucks as an actress.

I enjoyed the special effects a lot.

Otherwise, the action was solid, and this falls kind of in that summer epic category, where you kind of just have to watch it and have fun, no matter how stupid the plot is. It's worth a rent.
