Review of Battlefield Earth (2000) by Phillip M — 13 Oct 2012

Wow. With a 2% approval rating, most people think this is one of the worst movies ever made. Well, it's not that bad.

It's a basic sci-fi flick about a species known as the Psychlons who are in constant battle of oneupmanship as part of their culture. Of course, a society run on knives in the back is going to have issues.

Yet, somehow, the Psychlons invaded Earth and defeated all of Earth's army in 9 minutes, scattering human kind and using the remnants as slaves. Well, enter our hero, who learns, well, everything there is to know from a "learning machine" and then teaches the rest of humanity to fight back.

Oh by the way, this works, despite being able to beat all the armies in the world in 9 minutes, and by blowing up the Psychlon base in Denver, they apparently beat all the Psychlons in the world. Really?! Even Empire 101 would teach you to have more than one central location.....

So, yeah, that's pretty much what your looking at. Goofy plot, okay acting. Not a good movie, but I've seen way worse.
