Review of Battlefield Earth (2000) by Jason M — 11 Jul 2010
Admittedly, it's hard for me to go so far as to give 'Battlefield Earth' the half-star rating that I was originally planning on giving it. While the film -is- monumentally bad, with plot holes big enough to sink Titanic, it is successful in doing the one thing that movies are generally intended to do in the first place: entertain.
Of course, it doesn't entertain in the way it was originally intended to because it winds up feeling more like a comedy than a cool sci-fi flick. Just about everything is wrong about the film.
I could go on and on about the many factual errors and plot holes in the film, but I'd really just be repeating what's been said time and time again since it was released.
Needless to say, it most certainly earned its "Worst Movie of the Decade" Razzie. I'd only recommend it if you're looking for a "so bad it's funny" kind of movie.
