Although at times overwritten and over-directed, 'Battle of the Sexes' is a wonderfully entertaining film that somehow blends the sports and LGBT hero genres into one satisfying whole.
Performances are rock solid all around (Stone is perfect and Carrel nails the lovably childlike Riggs), the cinematography nails a perfect period tone, and dammit if you don't want to clap after the big climax.
