A wonderful performance from Emma Stone as Billy Jean King is wasted in a movie that doesn't accomplish much. Billy Jean King deserves a better movie. King is a pioneer in more than one way but little is delved into.
I'd much rather see a documentary of this or a movie that digs into the complexities of her mind. You don't learn a lot about King that the average person doesn't know. It's really too bad because King is one of the most fascinating woman of the 20th Century.
Steve Carell is able to once again transform himself into his character. Carell as Bobby Riggs misses the mark. Riggs was a villain and he is portrayed here as a likable guy. Worth seeing for the performance of Stone and a really cool special effect of Howard Cosell from the match in the 70s mixed with an actress from the movie.
Final Score: 6.2/10.
