Review of Battle of the Sexes (2017) by Mayank A — 29 Mar 2018
This is a biographical sports comedy-drama film based on a 1973 tennis match between male vs. female, a 55 year retired Wimbledon champion Bobby Riggs represents the male and Billie Jean King represents the female, at the time she was top ranked.
The movie is full of humor and drama considering the colorful life of the individuals involved. Bobby Rigs is a self-declared male chauvinist pig, a gambler addict, and a first rated hustler whereas Billie Jean is an activist for equal pay for woman and is cheating on her husband with another lady !!! A lot is happening and the best part its all based on actual facts.
The performances by both the leads were great. To sum it up in Billie Jean's own words about the movies "It was just so authentic, and so real, and accurate.".
