This film features the greatest aerial dogfights ever put to film, and it is unfortunate that we will never see its like again. It also manages to tell the historical side of the campaign with minimal diversion from fact.
From an entertainment side, however, it is dry and rather bland...better viewed as multiple parts rather than a whole.
