Review of Battle of Britain (1969) by Joe H — 09 Dec 2009
I only gave it a fresh (and just about) becuase for once theres a film that shows in a minor way just how hard it was for Britain, and everyone fighting in the battle to protect her. In 1969 these aerial battles were epic and visualy stunning, these days it's a bit like, oh its okay.
Some people do criticise the repetition in this film, but I believe that World War two two films should be historically accurate. It was repetitive for the allies, so it should be repetitive for the viewers, the film makers shouldn't lie.
The fighters protecting Britain form the island itself and all over the world, had to fight the Germans in the air non stop, and they won that battle, the film shows this. The film also shows how Britain was outnumbered and how the nazis were cocky and confident, it does show the British spirit in a minor way.
However hitlers opponents were also the civillians who stood up to hilter, and the man could not dent there spirit on the streets, the normal ordinary day people came together. This film does not show that.
I'd love a modern day remake of this, as this is not good enough, the acting is bad, you can't feel the tension as the men wait to be given orders to defend there home.
