Review of Battle: Los Angeles (2011) by Liam C — 15 Jun 2012
I was entertained by this movie and felt it to be fairly refreshing not to find out that the reason for the invasion was our misuse of the earth or some other earth friendly preachiness that have plaugued many of these types of movies recently.
Just a bunch of Marnies fighting the bad guys and winning the battles. I could have done without the shaky camera but overall I did enjoy the movie. The good thing I liked is that as a former military man, I can see they did a decent job with making believable characters and procedures.
They had the know it all Lt. that found out later he didn't know it all. Anyone who has served will tell you that the most dangerous thing on the battlefield is an new Lt. that thinks he knows more than a grizzled old Sgt.
The only thing I can think of that was not acurate was the scene on the brigde where they are stopped and see a tank firing at the aliens. Not once to I remember seeing that tank fire it's crew serve weapons, like the two M240s or even the .
50 cal. But then I guess it wouldn't have been as interesting. I also don't understand why the tank had it's rear facing the enemy. Oh well, can't expect too much from hollywood I guess.
