Review of Battle: Los Angeles (2011) by Nicolas M — 22 Aug 2012
Implementing a 'Black Hawk Down' take on global alien invasion is something filmmakers haven't done. While the cinematography and editing is heavily affected by all the hyperkinetic-charged war zone, it has successfully captured the essence of a genuine alien combat.
It's big, loud and as real as possible. Aaron Eckhart's performance as a weathered Marine on the comeback is worth a praise, while special effects, gunfights and explosions are the main points that highlight the film's restless ambition of creating a real-world extraterrestrial conflict albeit treading on familiar storytelling premise.
