Review of Battle: Los Angeles (2011) by Bobby L — 30 Sep 2012

Ridiculous doesn't even begin to describe it. How is it that an entire base of marines fail to take out an invading alien force - seemingly killing none of them, but 12 marines happen to take out entire squads of them? Why do intellectually superior and technologically advanced invading aliens use only one control ship per battlefield, that if taken out wipes out their entire fleet? And why is this achilles heel so weakly guarded that 4 or 5 marines have no problem walking right up to it? Also, how did those marines suddenly have a pair of rocket launchers and a laser missile targeting system - right when the situation called for it? Had they been carrying them all along and I never noticed? Perhaps they have the new fold-up pocket edition?

The action scenes in this movie were great. I also really enjoyed seeing Aaron Eckharts butt-chin squeezed into a marine helment chin strap. But everything else in this movie asks viewers to suspend their disbelief to nearly unattainable heights. "Maybe I can help, I am a veterinarian!" (shakes head slowly and suppresses cheese giggle).
