Review of Battle in Seattle (2007) by Daniel T — 11 Apr 2009
"Isn't it time that people mattered more than profit?" This movie was amazing. The realism and emotion of it is something not often seen in movies today. This movie proves that those in power simply view the Constitution as a way to keep people in line and they just disregard it at the first sign of trouble that they can't handle easily.
A vast majority of the violence was instigated by police assaulting peaceful protesters. These people were simply sitting in the streets and cops walked up and gassed them in the face or beat them with nightsticks, and there was no consequence for the cops.
It's just horrible. The injustices are unbelievable. This movie will make you hate governments and big business (if you don't already) but will also make you fall in love with humanity. Every single character in this movie was incredible, but the standouts are Martin Henderson, Ray Liotta, Charlize Theron, and Woody Harrelson.
This movie really makes you think and, personally, it disgusted me. The way our government treats its people is sickening. How this film didn't receive a wide release is beyond me. Highly recommended.
