Review of Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973) by Matthew C — 21 Oct 2010
The final film of the classic series suffers greatly from massive budget cuts. The first half of the film is pretty intriguing, but the final act is overblown and dull. Some characters are annoyingly cardboard and their dialog needlessly cornball.
Yet, Roddy McDowall still turns in a fine performance. And the early journey into the Forbidden City is pretty cool. A disappointing ending to a fantastic series of films.
