Review of Battle for Haditha (2007) by Kong M — 09 Apr 2008
This movie may not be entirely like what really happened, I do not know if the insurgents actually manipulated the footages of the aftermaths, and I believe certain events are not credible/believable enough or should have been more complex (i believe the movie is kinda one-sided because it made the soldiers lost their minds TOO easily, I think there is more to the pressure that made them succumbed to massacre) but I respect this documentary for being trying to explain the true accounts behind this incident honestly and in an unbiased manner.
I respect this movie for being one movie that lets the actors tell the story entirely by themselves without a script, as if it is 'written in a version of what the actors think how it happened in their knowledge'.
I respect this movie for its humane moments which symbolises America's testimony to iraq that 'i am trying to understand what really happened and how u guys feel about it, not in an American version but in your sandals'.
It may not be as powerful as one with real victims giving testimonies, but it is powerful for its honesty and its struggle to understand.
