Review of Battle Beyond the Stars (1980) by Kevin G — 06 Aug 2010
Just watched a great double feature - The Magnificent Seven (which I have not seen in about 25 years) and the Roger Corman version Battle Beyond the Stars(haven't seen for at least 20 years) - both of which of course derive from the Seven Samurais.
Great one two punch - and love that Robert Vaughn plays basically the exact same character in both. Yes Beyond the Stars is cheesy - but really so is the Seven. Either way great way to enjoy the story - once in the old west - and then again in SPACE... Will have to pull out the Seven Samurai now to watch it in feudal Japan.
Magnificent is of course superior with the cool of the cast vs Stars anchored by John Boy - but truly recommend this double feature to anyone...
