:fresh: :cool:[font=Comic Sans MS] This film is a guilty pleasure form 1980. For those of you that don't know it's another si-fi remake of "The Seven Samuri." Richard Thomas (Shad), rounds up some fighters to defend his home world, that carelessly gave up their wepons or their knowlge of how to use them.
It's called, "gun control." Once again another planet, where it doesn't work. George Peppard, Robert Vaugan, and Sybil Danning are a few of the main fighters, that are recruited. Sybil Danning is in this film as "eye candy" but they gave her some lines anyway.
I remember when they showed this on T.V. NBC censors edited out entire sections with her in them because of her coustume and when they couldn't edit, they would blurr her body. This is is a Roger Corman production so the special effects are not even good for, circa 1980.
They're a step above "Dr. Who" and a few steps below "Star Wars A New Hope". The fact that this film looks as good as it does is due to the work of, James Cameron. Some work from his early days.
He served as the films effects camera man, art director, and model builder. The score was composed by, James Horner. If you listen close, you can hear music that sounds alot like his work from "Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan.
" He would later go on to score "ALIENS" and "TITANIC". John Saxon (Blood Beach, Enter the Dragon,) is, Sador. He has some great lines here, lot of great "diabolical banter" worthy of the seirals from the 30's and 40's.
As much as I love this film I have to admit, it's cheese, but it's good cheese. Don't to forget to check out the rack on the ship that Richard Thomas flies, the first ship ever with breasts? and look for a young Julia Duffy.
