Review of *batteries not included (1987) by Melody T — 05 Jan 2009
It's old-fashioned and rather twee, to be sure, but if you're in the mood this remains a heart-warming little cracker of a film. A pleasingly dark opening coupled with some terrific performances, especially from Cronyn and Tandy, adds a nice complexity for the fantastical deus ex machina to work its magic.
The effects mostly still stand up, and the ending is suitably charming. A lovely film.
