Review of *batteries not included (1987) by Davey P — 26 Nov 2011
It doesn't stand the test of time well, with its outdated effects of tiny flying saucer antics. The overall theme and story is pretty sappy and family focused, but there's a lot of smaller more adult themes like dementia, arsen, and abondonment that were typical of the 80s but still feel weird here. Despite its shortcomings however, the cast spearheaded by the great Hume Cronym and Jessica Tandy are still entertaining and lovable.
"The quickest way to end a miracle is to ask it why it is... or what it wants.".
