Review of Bats (1999) by Allan T — 24 Nov 2007
The word "cliche" was invented for this film, it borrows from so many other films and almost every scene feels like something from one of Pitch Black, The Birds or Gremlins.
It's formulaic plot has a prety blonde doctor, an over zelous military, a mad scientist and a brave local law enforcement officer, plus loads of Texans who think the best way to deal with a swarm of thousands of bats is a shotgun that never needs reloading.
Having said that, the hilariously predicitble plot line (mad scientist creates weaponised bats because that's just "what scientists do") is quite enjoyable so long as you don't expect too much.
