Frank Miller is the most popular graphic novelist there is, so his novel on Batman is quite as everyone would not expectantly say dark and gritty. Its like Sin City meets Watchmen (yeah both are very dark) otherwise a good animated flick to watch.
Bryan Cranston does a good Detective Gordon.
