Review of Batman: Year One (2011) by Drake T — 12 Jul 2012
Where to begin... Well let's start with the good. The movie itself is divided up between different time skips along the first year of Bruce Wayne being Batman which is kind of cool actually. The story is interesting and it keeps you interested up to the very end.
Ok now for the more important issues. The #1 problem for me is a tie between 2 things: 1. Too short. The movie is barely over an hour and to be honest I wanted to see more. 2. Barely any Batman. Not kidding.
This whole movie is really about Gordon and how he came to where he was in the police force. Bruce is actually seen more than Batman and when we do see batman we do see a lot of fights but ... they're not long.
Ugghhh.. This one was kind of a disappointment for me. I am just glad I didn't buy it cause it would have been .. idk .. 20 some bucks down the drain. Here's what you should do: If you love Batman like I do, then you should watch it just to kill an hour.
You won't love it but it'll just knock it off your list of Batman films to watch. When this movie is over just go watch an amazing animated batman film like "Mask of the Phantasm" or "Under the Red Hood".
Or just watch "The Dark Knight" for the tenth time. You'll see how much better those films are compared to this one. I'm telling ya.. Oh and *SPOILER ALERT* didn't like Catwoman as a prostitute.
Yeah I was shocked by that too.
