Review of Batman: Year One (2011) by Joshua J — 18 Aug 2012
To put it simply, Batman: Year One is an excellent picture, and one that is at the very least on-par with the Nolan trilogy. Based on the comic book story arc that Batman Begins borrowed heavily from, while not as much of a grandiose spectacle as the live-action films, it more than makes up for that in its character study and strikingly dark, adult atmosphere.
The voice-acting is generally excellent (Especially Gordon's), and a sense of painstakingly dedicated craft can be garnered from every frame. Probably the best animated superhero movie, and one of the greatest superhero movies in general.
