Review of Batman: Year One (2011) by Jimenez M — 06 Feb 2016
Batman in the 80's went through a big change. On the heels of "Dark Knight Returns", which changed the tone of Batman into what we see now, Batman Year One is a newer/updated origin that came immediately after.
I like that the art style for the animation is based on the art style of the original book. Beggining with the DKR, the happy, Superfriends Batman of the 60's is put away and a dark, brooding, violent Batman emerges.
I really enjoy how the story characters are more realistic, the story has layers and the process of how/why Bruce becomes Batman makes sense. The voice acting is good but not great. I totally recommend this for all fans of Batman.
This is not for kids unless you let them watch/listen to fights with hookers, corrupt police hurting others/getting hurt themselves, and Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) in a conversation with someone who just "paid" her for nocturnal activities.
