Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Walter K — 23 May 2017
I won't go into much depth with my take on this as so many have already done so better than I can, however I will say that this movie blew me away. There are a lot of people who won't like this movie for several reasons -- the biggest reason we hear is, "the movie's too dark," and yes, it is and it should be.
This isn't a family-friendly Disney movie where the heroes trade witty remarks towards one another during their little fights; this isn't really even a superhero movie in the "common sense" of the word.
This is an epic saga, a tale with so many layers of thematic elements and devices that it's totally understandable why some people didn't like it. It's not a Michael Bay popcorn flick, but unfortunately it seems that is what the genre now requires in order to be considered a "good superhero movie.
" And that is just sad.
