Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Jared A — 16 Jul 2017
It's too bad the screenplay wasn't taken as seriously as the direction. If balance was what Warner Bros. was going for I think they just broke the scale in half.
*It's hard to see what they were going for here. Only a small fraction of the story made sense to me and the exposition was only workable because of the Bat. Batman's obsession with preventing further destruction was a believable source of motivation for Batman's foray into crazy town and Lex Luthor being introduced to exhort the heroes to create a profitable chaos was equally agreeable. Unfortunately, Eisenberg was more infirm than calculating, masquerading as an adderaled-out Mark Zuckerberg. He is ultimately responsible for a gimmicky final act. Cavill's Superman is still plain and boring as can be. Batfleck proves to be a suitable portrayal, but he eventually falls victim to the carelessness of the writers.
