A film that completely destroyed everything Superman and Batman stood for. A film that so many fans were waiting for several decade completely been ruined by people who literally do not understand who Superman and Batman are and what they fight for. This film has devastated so many fans by bringing in wrong idea to people who do not know these characters on who they are. With so much we can do in today's era, with CG has been a easy tool to render difficult scene, with technology advanced that made filming much easier to make, Batman VS Superman has ignored to explore what these amazing character can do and provided us with most boring scene a film maker can ever provide. The biggest issue with this film is again, the lack of character understanding. Yes long time ago Batman did kill criminal but that is no longer canon. People forget that whenever you read a book, the book is greatly influenced by the time period it was written. Back then it was ok for Batman to kill a criminal. But as time went by, DC comic decided to put a "no kill" rule to batman since he stand for justice and that is how everyone who love Batman sees who he is today. If Batman is ok with killing criminal, then that role has been taken by another character in the comic which defeats the purpose of Batman's character. Superman is also a big problem not limited in this film but in every DCEU films. The Superman we all identify and like is wise, confident, understanding and in constant battle in bringing hope to humanity who never truly understand what hope is. In the DCEU, Superman has a egomaniac mind that he think he is ok to break the law for his own view of justice but is completely not accepting other hero breaking the law for their own view of justice. He is a hypocrite and lack in understanding. I believe such wrong portrayal of our beloved superheroes were the major reason why most people had issue with this film.

But we also cannot ignore the massive amount of plot hole in this film. Superman who said he can hear "everything" in the previous film for some reason cannot detect his mother been adducted or where she is confined at. Superman who have caused major collateral damage to the city in the previous film did not learn to bring the battle to a subtle location again. Superman seem to learn nothing from his mistake which caused countless people's lives. If Batman would have just came to Superman to talk things over in mature way, then all of this nonsense would have been solved in a blink of a eye. But then the creator would obviously say "then we can't make them fight!!". Completely untrue. In the comic book Dark Knight Return, which this film is suppose to be based on, Batman and Superman have fought for a political reason. In many comic book and cartoon, Superman was taken control and Batman needed to fight him to snap him awake. This movie is poorly written, sloppy and pushed all over the place. The creative team had no idea what they were doing and is a total mess. Lastly but not the least, but we expect Lex Luthor to be smart, charming, bold, confident, egomaniac, persuasive and powerful yet we for some reason get a crazy lunatic version that is clearly a cheap knock off of a Joker. I think the film maker is just trying to see how much insult the audience can take from this film.
