Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Lewis C — 21 Feb 2018
This movie is a complete mess and a complete bore. I honestly don't think is there is much to admire here. There is actually one cool scene in the film with Batman saving Martha, but it doesn't help that it is preceded by perhaps the worst scene in the movie, the infamous Martha scene.
The problem here is they are clearly rushing their cinematic universe. There is a massive problem when (SPOILER ALERT) I feel more for the loss of an ant in Ant-man than I do for the death of Superman.
Why did they think it was a good idea to do the death of superman story so soon. There is no real impact. Lex Luthor was severely miscast. He was also extremely annoying to watch and his motivations really didn't make a whole lot of sense.
Neither did Batmans or supermans. I get why Batman is angry, but I find it hard to believe he would want to kill Superman, particularly after he just saved the world in the previous movie. And why does superman fight back, he has absolutely no reason to.
Not much here makes sense. DCEU needs to take time to develop the characters first and then worry about connecting them as a universe. If you develop the characters it naturally makes it easier to have a connected universe you care about.
Overall, it is way too long and a waste of time.
