Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Zach V — 04 Feb 2018
As an avid fan of the DCEU I really wanted to like this movie. When I went to the theatre I wanted to love it. When I rewatched it I wanted to like it. When I watched the Directors Cut I wanted to be able to bear it.
Unfortunately I never got what I wanted. Overstuffed, not fun, no character development, and no plot equals a horrible movie. Even the 3 hour directors cut didn't clear up anything, which was a damn shame.
Affleck and Cavill didn't live up to their predecessors, Bale and Reeves. They weren't even close! Gadot was decent as Wonder Woman but she didn't get enough time to make a big impression.
Eisenberg sucked as Luthor. The big fight scene was a disappointment. Doomsday was unnecessary. And don't even get me started on Martha. This whole movie was a mess. Hey, at least the music was strong.
