Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by David M — 09 Jun 2017
'Batman v Superman' is a bad movie. The editing is a jumbled mess and there are too many uninteresting subplots. So Superman is angry about another man putting on a costume and trying to protect his city.
Why? I don't know, I don't care. Lex Luthor finds out Bruce Wayne is Batman and Clark Kent is Superman. How? I don't know, I don't care. Lex Luthor's nonsensical philosophizing made his motivations for wanting Batman and Superman to battle it out unclear.
So what exactly was his plan and why was he doing this? I don't know, I don't care. This film portrays both Batman and Superman as easily manipulable morons who change their minds about each other just because (spoiler!) their moms share the same first name.
As for the positives: Ben Affleck is actually alright as Batman and it's a shame he couldn't debut in a better movie. Also, Wonder Woman was by far the best part. I'm not exactly sure she was needed in this movie, but she's pretty awesome nonetheless.
I hear the director's cut is much better. But if it really is 3 hours long, and still about two overly-serious grumpy men in tights having a pissing contest, I'm not sure I'm willing to sit through it again.
