Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Paul G — 13 Oct 2016
Zach Snyder is successful in maintaining the cool, grounded "look" of this new DC universe.
The performances are solid.
Cavill, not having much more to do than look pretty, is fine.
Eisenberg, what are you doing?
Snyder, why didn't you help him out?
Gadot, giving us a tease of what we could expect with Wonder Woman is intriguing (though some of her "powers" seem a little out of proportion with her future team-mates).
Affleck, surprisingly is the most enjoyable as a convincing Bruce Wayne/Batman.
He seems to provide the most hope of any dignity with this franchise (please save the DC Universe!!).
I do regret that it is clear that there is no great effort to continue the world that Nolan created with his masterpiece trilogy.
