Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Latrice T — 26 Nov 2016
Just saying, its not too late to recast Jesse Eisenberg and Amy Adams and rework their character. She is the worst possible Lois-- classless, boring, and irrelevant. The moment I saw her on screen, I said "Oh my God, she's gotten old.
She looks like she could be Cavill's mom." Adams and Cavill have zero chemistry. Her casting choice makes very little sense to me, why would the director think she would appeal to loyal DC fans in any possible way? I've always loved Lois' strong, independent and aggressive character but Adams is like a tame shrew.
Lex Luthor is one of my favorite villans and he was butchered. He was portrayed more like the Riddler--mentally unstable, cheesy and undesirable. I read they were trying to make him more "modern" but I didn't realize his character was dated in the first place.
Also, Mercy was always a big part of Luthor's operations. Why was she killed off in the first hour? What was the point of having her in the film, as a novelty act? I could go on and on about the messy plot and poor editing, but I think everyone else has made that point already.
The costumes, graphics and soundtrack were great and Ben Affleck did a damn decent job.
