Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Jachin L — 13 Dec 2016
I didn't think the movie was a bad as some people said, but it definitely wasn't great. I think DC wanted to catch up to marvel as fast as they could. But Marvel had 4 movies before the first Avengers.
They took time to introduce most of their characters. Batman v Superman just threw in as many as they could, so they could set up Justice League. If they had released the Wonder Woman movie first, I think I would have removed all the questions around her.
We knew who she was but had no idea where she came from or why she was there. The worst parts were the "Martha" fix, and Lex Luthor. I think Eisenberg was good, but the writing was off for the character.
But there were many moments throughout the movie which I thought were great and I have to say what saved the movie was Batman. Ben Affleck was good, and the writing for him and his actions were spot on.
Overall, I think it was trying too hard. If DC scaled back and tried to build their roster of heroes first, things might have been better for them,.
