Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Bradley J — 05 Jan 2017
It says something when the best part of a Batman v. Superman movie is when Wonder Woman shows up and kicks some ass. That being said, I look forward to her solo film. However, the title feud at the center of this grim and bloated superhero film lasts all of five minutes as the two superheroes duke it out in a wholly unexciting fight that has them reconciling before their battle even gets under way.
The rest of the film is highlighted by city smashing and headache inducing battles and hammy acting (Jesse Eisenberg). While the film poses itself as a very serious affair, it is sometimes completely impossible to take anything onscreen seriously as the dialogue and narrative border on laughable.
The film never finds a compelling reason to pit the two heroes against each other and it creates a disappointing duo launch film for the caped crusaders. Rating: 38.
