Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Nolanlundgaard — 23 Aug 2018
I started watching Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with low expectations, as I had heard from a significant number of people that it was terrible. I was joyfully blown away by the surprisingly existent and powerful plot (which I had heard was nothing).
Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot both did a fantastic acting job, and Ben Affleck did a pretty good job as well, though he wasn’t as good a Batman as Michael Keaton was in Batman and Batman Returns (as of this writing, I have not seen the Dark Knight trilogy, so I can not compare Ben Affleck to Christian Bale yet).
The special effects were outstanding, on par with the rest of the DCEU. I loved the tension between the two titular characters, as well as the surprise ending! In summary, while lots of people hated this movie, I found it really enjoyable and beyond! The only thing that I would have changed is the length of the movie.
Similar to Man of Steel, it felt like it ran too long.
