Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Late R — 16 Aug 2017
With such an iconic trio of superheroes and number of equally iconic villains, there was a lot to look forward to here, but Snyder seems insistent on going out of his way to completely ignore most of their defining characteristics leaving them a mere shadow of their usual incarnations.
Most of all, however, the film is just a convoluted and overstuffed mess that has pacing issues and too much that doesn't make a lot of sense. Granted, the visuals are top notch with a few shots that are just stunningly gorgeous, and the action sequences are pretty spectacular too, but even with those aspects, there is an obvious overkill.
It's just not a well-balanced or, indeed, a well-made film.
