Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Diogenis S — 26 Jul 2017
Ok. I never saw the theatrical cut. I saw the Extended Version. From what I understand, many of the problems with the plot of the movie are fixed in this version. And I think that's why I don't dislike it as much as some others do.
Still, there are problems with this version. The biggest, in my opinion, are the motivations of the title characters. I fully understand why Bruce wants to pick a fight with Superman. I disagree with his decision to do so, but I understand why.
Kal-El's motivation, however, is flimsy at best. To hear Superman say that he might have to kill Batman, for the reasons presented in this movie, is ludicrous. Not only does it destroy his character, it also doesn't conform with the internal logic of the film.
Then, the reason they stop fighting and become allies is even more ridiculous. All in all, I enjoyed watching it, but some things take me out of the experience.
