Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Paul S — 10 Jun 2017
After the barely watchable Man of Steel, I didn't exactly have high hopes for this especially as Batman was also recast after three incredibly enjoyable films helmed by Christian Bale as the titular character who also had a far better director behind him.
So my expectations were low and quite frankly they weren't even met, yes it is slightly better than MoS but only because it relies slightly less on city sized destruction but it still suffers from most of the issues in that film while also suffering from new problems.
The plot and script are still pretty dire though slightly less so than in MoS, the special effects though technically impressive still look bland and lifeless, there are pointless dream sequences and even a dream within a dream which are laughable, there are way too many characters involved, Jesse Eisenberg is annoying as Lex Luthor and pales in comparison to the great actors who have portrayed that character before and once again it is way way too long.
However the score has improved from last time and Gal Gadot shines as Wonder Woman.
