Review of Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010) by Wyland C — 01 Jun 2011
Batman: Under The Red Hood is a darker animated film from DC Comics explaining the Jason Todd story or the second Robin. Jason Todd wasn't like Dick Grayson was. Jason was more rebellious and went down a darker path and he ended up facing a bad fate with the joker, and that's what happened in the comics.
What I did like. I like that it wasn't kid friendly. I know that might seem bad, but I didn't mind it at all. It had actually killing and blood. It had mixes such as suspense, drama, and horror. The joker was also creepy looking because he was older and warn out. There was also some plot twists I didn't see coming. I also like how the movie starts off with a big bang! The beginning scene of Batman trying to save Jason. I thought the ending was sad and suspenseful at the same time. I also wasn't sure if red hood or Batman was right. It reminded me of Batman: The Animated Series which I LOVED so I was glad. Except they animated it different if you pay close attention to it. I also loved the all the voices they got some really good actors. One of my favorites Jensen Ackles who did a great job!
What I didn't like. Well there were some.
Paranormal/supernatural things in the movie. One thing being and giant monster, and another being the fountain of youth. One thing I also like about Batman is that he has no superpowers and when you bring that into it it just ruins the whole no power thing. The only time I was okay with it was with Poison Ivy. Also I did like seeing the joker older and Dick Grayson being older but Batman didn't like a day over 40 he should've looked 50-55. Although that wasn't a big deal what was a big deal is that the big mystery of the movie was 'who is red hood', but I knew by the minute he got on screen.
Overall Batman: Under The Red Hood is a little overrated but still fun and makes it into my list of favorite Batman movies.
